Congratulations Matt Jackson, Jeopardy!'s 4th Winningest Champion Ever

After an exciting two and a half weeks of intense gameplay, signature celebratory gestures, and the excitement of becoming an internet sensation, we’d like to extend a big congratulations to Matt Jackson – our fourth winningest champion ever! His streak came to an end today with 13 wins and a grand total of $411,612.

Our viewers have loved watching Matt’s run, and Arthur Chu, who held the 4th place position prior to Matt’s run, has enjoyed the spectacle too, voicing his admiration of the 23-year-old champion in a gracious piece earlier this week.

Matt isn’t sure yet what he plans to do with all of his winnings, but he knows for sure that a portion of them will be used to perform acts of “tikkun olam” – an old Hebrew phrase that literally means “world repair.” In the modern era, “tikkun olam” has become synonymous with social action and justice. We’re excited to see how Matt uses his winnings to make a lasting impression on the world outside of Jeopardy!

We’d be remiss if we didn’t call attention to the Jeopardy! contestant who ended Matt’s streak. NYC’s Michael Baker, you now have joined the ranks of Jeopardy! “giant-slayers” like Nancy Zerg (who ended Ken Jennings’ 74-game streak) and Brian Loughnane (whose victory ended Julia Collins’ 20-game streak).

For those who want more Matt Jackson, you’re in luck! You can revisit the memorable interviews he gave us, plus he’ll return for the Tournament of Champions, airing November 9-20. Tune in to watch Matt face off against his most formidable competition yet. How will he fare against returning multi-day champs Greg Seroka, Alex Jacob or Kerry Greene? It’s right around the corner, so you won’t have to wait too long to find out.
