On Wednesday, April 4, 2012, Jeopardy! was announced as a winner of the coveted George Foster Peabody Award. For the uninitiated, the Peabody Award rewards distinguished achievement and meritorious service in broadcasting and production, as administered by the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia. The 16-person panel of experts in culture and the arts decided that we earned our Peabody for “encouraging, celebrating and rewarding knowledge.” We were one of the 38 winners out of over 1,000 entries. Who said being smart isn’t cool?
